The fire that for five days kept an entire region in suspense has left a wound of more than 5,000 hectares and several damaged roads. A desolate landscape in some cases imperceptible from some points of the region, given the orography that we have and one of the reasons why this fire has been so damaging.
But thanks to the Grenadian company GIS4techIn this video, we can see in detail what area has been affected by the fire, as they have prepared a video in which you can see the satellite points through which the fire has passed. From Los Guájares a tour is made throughout the Lecrín Valley, as this is the most affected area, where you can see the consequences of the fire. A fire that has exceeded 5,000 hectares and that even on Thursday is still not extinguished.
And why did this company make a video of the fire? According to Jorge Hernandez, co-founder and CEO of GIS4tech, "when we saw the fire we were quite sad because among other things we are from Granada, we saw a lot of news but little concrete information, especially with the number of hectares, photographs of firefighters that did not correspond, and we thought about doing something because we have satellite images at hand and we thought it was important".
As important as it is accurate, thanks to this video and several images that have been published in its social media accounts the affected area can be seen with precision. All this, "thanks to several sources, mainly from the Copernicus Sentinel satellite, the European Union satellite that was positioned just above the area on the fourth day of the fire," explains Jorge Hernández. With all the information provided by the satellites in real time, "we did our work in three dimensions so that people could get a better idea of what the fire had been like," emphasizes the company's co-founder and CEO.
