GIS4tech wins second place in the VII competition
"University Entrepreneurship

The awards ceremony of the 7th University Entrepreneurship Competition of the University of Granada took place on Wednesday 7th March in a packed Rector's Hall with entrepreneurs and collaborating institutions.

The event was chaired by the rector, Pilar Aranda, and was attended by the Territorial Delegate of Economy, Innovation, Science and Employment of the Junta de Andalucía in Granada, Juan José Martin Arcos; the director of Institutional Relations of Santander Universities Spain, Alfredo Albáizar; the vice-rector of Students and Employability, José Antonio Naranjo, and the General Coordinator of Entrepreneurship, María del Mar Fuentes.

The general coordinator of Entrepreneurship, María del Mar Fuentes, commented that the presence of women in the training programmes of UGRemprendedora is around 25%, which is not very different from what happens in the business world, where the presence of women in top management committees and business associations at a high level is null or symbolic. UGRemprendedora will shortly be launching two specific programmes to promote university women in the business world: "Emprendiendo desde la Igualdad" and "Liderazgo emprendedora para investigadoras".

Alfredo Albáizar, on behalf of Santander Universities Spain, congratulated the University of Granada for the boost given to entrepreneurship in recent years and reiterated Santander's willingness to continue supporting initiatives to promote entrepreneurship at the University of Granada.

The Territorial Delegate of Economy, Innovation, Science and Employment of the Junta de Andalucía in Granada has highlighted that almost 30% of the entrepreneurial projects supported by the CADEs come from university promoters, and that the close collaboration between the Junta de Andalucía and its entities linked to entrepreneurship (Fundación Andalucía Emprende, Agencia IDEA, Fundación PTS, etc.) and the University of Granada will continue.

The vice-rector for Students, José Antonio Naranjo, congratulated the winners for their tenacity and courage in carrying out their projects, and highlighted the firm commitment of the University of Granada to support the development of their entrepreneurial ideas, connecting with the rest of the university's employability actions.

The rector congratulated the winners and their families, who "have undoubtedly supported and contributed a lot to the success of these projects". Pilar Aranda stressed the University of Granada's commitment to entrepreneurship, with this competition being one more of the measures to promote entrepreneurial and innovative initiatives, together with the numerous training activities and the promotion of entrepreneurship that take place at the University of Granada's Entrepreneurship Centre BREAKER, and in the other centres of the university institution.

In their speeches, the winners thanked the collaboration and support provided by the University of Granada, through UGRemprendedora, and the rest of the institutions, friends and family for the development of their projects.
